As recommended by health authorities, the best way to keep viruses under control is to take care of hygiene, especially by cleaning your hands. Here are some simple tips to do it the right way.
How to properly wash your hands to avoid infections, step by step:
1.- Wet your hands with warm or cold water. Turn off the faucet to avoid spending more water than necessary.
2.- Add soap on the palms of your hands and rub them together.
3.- Interlock the fingers and rub the hands again, place the palm of one of your hands on the back of the other, with the fingers interlaced, and rub again. Perform the same step in reverse, washing the back of the other hand.
4.- Embrace your thumb with one hand and rub it rotating the hand around it. Repeat the process with the thumb of your other hand.
5.- Rub the tips of the fingers on the opposite palm and repeat the action with the other hand. This step can also be done with a nailbrush well soaked with soap, it will help you keep your fingernails and fingertips clean.
6.- Wash both of your wrists.
7.- Rinse your hands and wrists.
8.- Dry your hands with paper or disposable tissue and close the faucet with it.
This process should last between 20 and 40 seconds. Remember to always keep your nails short and pay attention on the hygiene of the skin that is under them. This will eliminate germs that can lodge on your fingertips.
PS: Always have a sanitizer nearby, it will help you in those moments when you cannot properly wash your hands. And avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth.
